Does PrestaShop support the WebP format?
- PrestaShop 1.6, 1.7 and 8.0 do not support the WebP format - you need a module.
- PrestaShop 8.1 has native support for WebP, but only for product images, other images in PrestaShop 8.1 are not converted to WebP format.
- No version of PrestaShop implements LazyLoad functionality - you need a module.
Our module implements full WebP and Lazy Load support for all images and photos in every version of PrestaShop 1.6, 1.7 and 8.x.
- The module automatically converts JPG and PNG to WebP in the background throughout your store. The conversion process is highly optimized and does not load the server.
- Files in WebP format are saved on the server and in the cache and are ready for reuse. The module takes care of the order and correct operation of the WebP format.
- The module detects newly added products and images and generates WebP format for them automatically - rest assured.
- You can use CRON and generate all WebP images at once. However, this is not necessary because the automatic method is well optimized.
- In the module you will find statistics of photos that have been converted to WebP format and photos waiting for conversion.
- WebP format requires enabling Friendly URLs)in PrestaShop settings.
- Your server should have at least one WebP-enabled library of your choice, such as cwebp, ffmpegm, vips, imagick, gmagick, imagickbinary, gmagickbinary or gd.
